B. Todd Jones is the U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota. President Barak Obama formally nominated Jones for the position on June 4, 2009, and he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on August 7, 2009. Attorney General Eric Holder also appointed Jones to serve as Chair for the Attorney General Advisory Committee. this body, consisting of 18 U.S. Attorneys from around the country, is responsible for advising the Attorney General on a broad array of Department of Justice policy issues.
This si the second time Jones has served as U.S. Attorney; President Clinton appointed him to the position in 1998 and he served in that capacity until January 2001. Jones has also served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Minnesota.
Prior to becoming U.S. Attorney, Jones was a partner with the national law firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi LLP in Minneapolis. Jones volunteers in the activities of a number of non-profit boards, including the University of Minnesota Foundation. He has worked with the Innocence Project of Minnesota, served as a member of the Federal Public Defender Panel for indigent criminal defendants, and served on the Board of Governors for the University of St. Thomas School of Law for six years (2000-2006).
